DESCRIPTION:It looks like all systems go. Are the cars as ready as we are to get out and about again? Have you taken yours out for a few warm-up runs yet or are you still working on those must-do jobs?\nYou will find the booking form in with this issue of the magazine. Please get it filled in and sent off asap\, or you can download a copy from the members section of the website www.siddeley.org Following two years of ‘no National’ and the proximity to the new Armstrong Siddeley Centre at Pentre\, we are expecting a good turnout both for the weekend and on National Day – Sunday 10th July. If you will be coming with one of our cups or trophies awarded in 2019\, please let Ann know\, otherwise please arrange to return to her or deliver to someone who will be attending on the day. \nFriday 8th July: Our AGM will be held at the Holiday Inn\, Telford at 2.30pm and can also be joined via Zoom.\nIf you wish to attend via Zoom\, please send your email address to events@siddeley.org so that an invitation can be sent to you nearer the time.\nSaturday 9th July: An opportunity to visit the new stores premises\, to enjoy a cup of tea/coffee/biscuits from our sparkling new kitchen and to see the work needed to provide a new home for the Heritage Trust alongside stores\, which together will form the new AS Centre. The nearby British Ironworks Centre with a sculpture park\, shop and restaurant/café is a venue which could be described as a little quirky and is well worth a visit. Another alternative would be a visit to Sleap Airfield\, just north of Shrewsbury where on Saturday you can see and hear a fully restored Avro Anson with its twin radial AS Cheetah engines.\nIf you are interested in going to Sleap\, please let Ann know so the owner Glen knows to expect us.\nA formal dinner will be held in a private dining room on Saturday evening with a raffle to follow. \nEvening menu – Saturday 9th July 2022\nHoliday Inn\, Telford\nTo Start:\nA Buttercross Farm chicken\, bacon and parmesan croquette with baby gem lettuce and Caesar dressing\nB Ham hock terrine with mixed leaf and pineapple relish\nC Homemade chunky leek and potato broth (ve)\nTo Follow:\nD Braised feather blade of beef with fondant potato\, caramelized onion\, sous vide carrots and red wine jus\nE Pan fried salmon with new potatoes\, seasonal vegetables and salsa verde\nF Mushroom risotto with garlic ciabatta and salad leaves (v/ve)\nTo Finish:\nG Rhubarb and soya milk panna cotta (ve)\nH Sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce\nI Lemon and lime glazed tart with raspberry sorbet \nSunday 10th July: NATIONAL DAY – We will be part of the Shrewsbury Classic Car Festival held in Longdon\, a village south of Shrewsbury\, with our own\ndedicated area. The show hosts over 200 cars with a few stalls that cater for car owners and some that offer car related toys/jams and flowers/scalextric racing and auto jumble. Food and drink will be available from a mobile bar and an outside catering company plus an afternoon tearoom inside the village hall. See their website: www.shrewsburyclassiccarfestival.co.uk\nParking available for modern cars adjacent to site.\nWe have reserved a few rooms at the hotel for Thursday 7th July if you would like to make it a longer weekend or wish to be bright and refreshed for the AGM on Friday afternoon. Please add/amend booking form for the additional night at the same rates.\nWith so much to see and do in the local area\, there is the opportunity to stay on a little longer either at the Holiday Inn or perhaps a local hostelry depending on\nnumbers – see foot of booking form.\nBooking forms must be received by Wednesday 11th May – after this\, all unreserved rooms will be released and will not therefore be available at the group rate we have been given.\nIf you are attending National Day only\, we still need your booking form please as stewards on the gate will charge you a £5 entrance fee if you are not on our list of expected vehicles.
